Roman by P. Zahrebelny " Julia, or invitation to suicide " at the crossroads of genre and style trends.
The article deals with the peculiarities of genre and style of P.Zahrebelny’s novel “Julia or the Invitation to Suicide”. The novel is analyzed as a serenade novel, requiem novel, psychological and Utopian novel. The conceptual determination of character’s and author’s myth is studied according to the type of narration, boundary situation and to the denouement. During the escalation of the conflict their voices got closer despite the possibility of an existence of the author’s mind inside the mind of the character. The finals of their myths have the different conceptual sense. The final of the character’s myth is the drama (the realization of the fakeness of the ideal woman) and the tragedy (the suicide). The final of the authors myth is the harmony of male and female essences in the afterlife. In the final of the author’s myth the woman gained her perfection in the form of radiance and love. These romantic features of the woman is the base of the perfect relationships which remind the biblical image of the Paradise. These features form the dystopian peculiarity of the novel, its genre uncertainty, the diffusion of the psychology (the images of emotions, the analysis of emotional conditions) and the philosophy (the image of thought, the reflection of the doings and their results). The tragic sounding of the romantic melodies, the mark of the serenade-novel, loses its importance. The features of the philosophic and requiem novel activate against the background of the psychological one.
